Wood
Wood has been used as a source of heat for thousands upon thousands of years and it is still popular today for heating the home. Our wood stove, fireplace and insert manufacturers have made changes over the years to have the most up-to-date and efficient, clean burning units that meet the highest standards for the home and cottage. The vast majority of the appliances we carry are EPA (Environmental Protection Agency) approved, meeting the highest standards, which means you can find in our store the cleanest fuel efficient units on the market. With both the airtight doors and the "secondary burn" system that allows for a slow complete burn of your wood and with the secondary combustion, even normally wasted smoke is reburned before existing through the chimney.
If you compare your old wood stove or fireplace from 20 years ago, it was hassle to reload the wood every hour or two to maintain the heat. It also meant burning up to 9 cords of wood per year to keep the home fires burning with emmision values of about 50 to 80 grams/hour but, with todays standards in effeciency, the emmision rates are reduced to 2.1 to 5.3 grams/hour and that means to heat run your wood burning system everyday during the late fall, winter and spring you would burn between 2 - 3 cords of wood per year. Once you start burning a wood unit you can cut down on gas consumption with your furnace with a wood stove or fireplace that, after only a few years, will pay for itself in savings while enjoying a natural look and feel of a wood fire. No one puts a furnace in living room to watch, but our wood burning systems are attractive and become a piece of furntiture for the home.
